Summer Fades

With summer slowly fading away, we begin our transition into autumn.

Cherish the long summer days while you still can; the coziest season is coming upon us.

Get the look here.

This summer, I’ve been hanging out in the woods with a group of photographers from the South end of Calgary. Initially, when contemplating “actually doing this”, the goal was to live off as little as possible and make as much art as our fingers could bleed out, feeding almost solely on the company and driven Earth hunger of one another. With the exception of a few glances backward on the drive out – a promise to Calgary, my recent home – some sort of awkward parent – the nights and road ahead have beamed with a dry crackle and flame, silvery incandescence in the place of city lights.

Ha, actually I didn’t do any of that. That was a bit romantic though, hey?

“This summer, I found myself in the woods”.

“I was lost, but nature, our mother, birthed a bridge between body and self”.

(This is where I’d cue the Eddie Vedder and insert a passage from Into the Wild)

No, alas these images are not the child of an introspective walk in the woods.

However, for those of us who might be missing or craving some of those times, there was something a little bit transportive about going out on the lake, in this look, with a group of photographer friends from the South end of Calgary.

For the record, I think this kimono has been my favourite piece of poem to the body, this summer.

The Underrated Kimono

LIS_9280-691x460I love being home. Most people know this about me… and I’m never ashamed to admit that I am the definition of a homebody.

I know for some people lounging around the house means wearing less flattering clothing lol…such as husky sweats, flannel pj’s etc etc (and hey, there is nothing wrong with that). Perhaps because I work from home, I always feel better when I wear pretty things and things that make me comfortable. This is where elegance meets comfort when you can throw on a Kimono and a Kami Lace Short Strap Dress.  This is the perfect layering piece for all your leggings and cardigans. Toss on your Kimono and you can step outside and grab the mail without scaring your neighbours off.

You can even dress it up with a statement necklace and some pumps!  Kimono’s are very versatile and this little black dress features pretty lace detailing that adds elegance to your ensemble.

Ranch Life With A Cadence Jacket

Living or visiting the countryside can give you a sense of peace, tranquility and light.  Be aware of your surroundings while staying warm and cozy as our days get colder.

The Cadence Jacket feels like a warm hug when you wrap it around your shoulders. You can feel totally comfortable wearing this coat as the snow starts to fly yet it looks breathtakingly fresh with a fall scene.
